Structural review

An independent check of another engineer's structural design, for a client, an authority or an insurer who needs a second opinion before building.

Deliverables

  • A review of the design basis, the loading and the structural system against the brief and the codes
  • Independent calculations for the governing members and connections
  • A review report listing each finding with its clause, its significance and the response it needs
  • Confirmation in writing once the findings are closed

Sectors

  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Institutional
  • Industrial

Codes

  • BS 8110-1:1997
  • BS 5950-1:2000
  • BS 6399 (loading)

A review is not a re-design. We check that the design basis fits the building, that the loads are right, that the governing members work, and that the drawings say what the calculations assume. Findings are listed one by one with the clause they rest on, so the designer can answer each on its merits.

Our own platform prints every step of its calculations for the same reason: a review should be able to read the working, not a summary of it.
