A forensic investigation begins by making the structure safe and recording everything before it is disturbed. The analysis then tests each candidate cause against what the evidence allows, and the report says plainly which causes the evidence supports, which it rules out and which remain open.
Where the matter may go to a tribunal or an insurer, the report is written so that its evidence, its analysis and its opinion can each be examined on their own.
